The wounded man is Adam and all his children. The thieves are devils. The priest and the Levite (like the lawyer himself) do not help. The Good Samaritan is Jesus, who came where we were and showed mercy. The sermon.

Fr. Eckardt. I agree with Adam and all his children. What are your thoughts on the priest being Aaron, who cannot help through his sacrifices (golden calf, which brings death), and the Levite being Moses, who though he be the giver of the Law, which is good, can still not give life and bandage the wounds of sinners?
I've been a Lutheran pastor for about 35 years (LCMS), and have been here in Kewanee for about 17 of those years. Did I mention that I'm also the editor-in-chief of Gottesdienst? Check it out at www.gottesdienst.org. If you really want to see more about me, get on that Gottesdienst website and check out my cv.
